Carmina Calderon

Campaigns and Outreach Manager

Carmina Calderon serves as ACT-LA’s Campaigns and Outreach Manager where she works with ACT-LA members to support the coalition’s housing and transit justice campaigns. Carmina has experience in land-use equitable development organizing, grassroots leadership development, as well as organizing for transit justice at LA Metro. Prior to becoming ACT-LA staff, Carmina was a co-founder of Community Power Collective, and had chaired the Organizing and Transit Justice Committees within ACT-LA that helped pass policies that support more development of affordable housing near transit and won the inclusion of equity goals within Metro’s Transit Oriented Communities Program. Carmina is of Salvadoran-Filipino descent, and grew up in East Hollywood with her mom and twin sister. It is through her lived experience as a transit-dependent youth and living with housing insecurity she was able to understand the connection between access to dignified housing and mobility as a human right.
