Tala Oszkay Febres-Cordero

Applied Research Specialist, ACLS Leading Edge Fellow

Tala is ACT-LA’s Applied Research Specialist and ACLS Leading Edge Fellow; she conducts research that supports ACT-LA’s advocacy, communications, and community organizing efforts. Prior to joining ACT-LA, she completed her PhD in sociology at UCLA while also providing research support for several UCLA faculty, the UCLA Labor Center, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Center for Economic Development. As a graduate student and researcher, she has used both quantitative and qualitative methods to examine urban economic development, inequality, housing, and policymaking. Tala is also an environmentalist and mom to two native Angelinos, motivating her desire to see a more equitable and livable city.
